Yesterday, I started on my NaNo piece, which is a super fluffy story about a guy who is writing a book for all the wrong reasons and will slowly discover the right reason. Yes, yes, I know, what a terrible idea, right? The fact is that I really wanted to do NaNo this year, and it’s so much easier to write fluffy teeny-bopper nonsense than to actually think about what you want to write.
It’s also a nice break. In my Creative Writing class, I’ve been writing a lot of dark fiction that’s rather humorless, and it’s nice to step back and write something that’s kind of upbeat and empty. Also, a lot of teens read nothing but upbeat and empty, so I think I’m off to a good start.
Right now, to be on par, I’m supposed to have 8,333 words. Since I started yesterday, I’m a bit behind, at just less than 6,000 words, but I think I’m doing well. I’m hoping to get to around 8,000 today, and then by tomorrow, I’ll be caught up.
Two of my other friends, Alice and Alexa, and doing NaNo, and they both started at the beginning of the month. Alexa is sitting at just over 2,000 words, while Alice is almost at 5,000. The difference is that neither of their novel ideas are fluffy in the least, and so I can whip out the words a lot faster because I’m not required to think all that much.
I did, however, just have to choose the hometowns of the characters, and I did some actual Google-mapping to make the story more realistic. Go me.
Let’s move on to the other stupid things. Like…having this thing for this guy who has explained why he can’t be with me even though he wants to, but my heart won’t give it up anyway. Yeah, that’s stupid.
Also, trying to decide whether or not to Vote, and who to vote for. I really wish that Gary Johnson has a chance in hell at winning, because then I would for sure be voting for him, but he doesn’t, so I have to decide whether I’m wasting a vote or going for Obama. I’m sorry to all you Romney-supporters out there, I just can’t back him AT ALL.
Anyway, that’s really all I have to say for today, and I hope you darling people are having an excellent November so far!
